Legislation
Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) have been a requirement for existing domestic properties since 2007. Also under articles 7 to 10 of the European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive the Government now include further additions to this with Lettings, New Builds and Commercial Properties. Public Buildings will be required to show the operational rating on a Display Energy Certificate DEC).
Domestic Housing is covered by the Building Regulations - Conservation of Fuel and Power (Part L) documents:
L1A (on construction housing)
L2B (existing housing)
Commercial and Public Buildings are Non Domestic buildings and are covered by the Building Regulations - Conservation of Fuel and Power (Part L) documents:
L2A (on construction non-domestic)
L2B (existing non- domestic)
